My company, Park and Preston Travel, had the opportunity to work with several charities and their runners during the 2018-2019 race season. runDisney was trying out a new program for the charities and enlisted our help. Well, long story short, the program turned out to not be in the best interest for the Charity or the Charity Runner… so it only lasted for one season.
However, because of this, we developed some strong relationships with charities and we want to do whatever we can to support them as well as support the runners who want to raise funds!
I’ve taken some time to get all of the charity information together in one place!
How to Pick a Charity
It’s easy to take a look at the numbers and make a decision that way, but my biggest advice would be to pick a charity that holds a special place in your heart! Who do you WANT to run for? What story do you have to tell? How do you want to make a difference?
When to Decide on a Charity
The sooner, the better! You definitely want to have enough time to fundraise to make the biggest impact. Some people will sign up at the last minute in order to have access to a race registration that has sold out, and if that’s the case for you then it is time to hit the ground running! (ha! see what I did there?!)
You can also fundraise for a charity after you have your race registration. Most charities have the option to fundraise without securing your race registration through them – definitely reach out to see if that is an option for you!
Booking Your Charity Race Package
Each charity will have access to a limited number of discounted rooms that are only available to charity runners. If that’s something you would like to take advantage of – we support that decision completely! Unfortunately, we cannot book those rooms for you – but we can still work together. Definitely reach out and we can figure out the best package to fit your needs.
