The Ampersand

Does anyone else feel like the end of the year is going to be here before we know it? I keep saying “I can’t believe it’s already October” … guys … October is already almost OVER!

One thing I didn’t mention last week was my excitement over booking dinners and excursions for my mother and myself for our Castaway Cay Challenge Cruise leaving the Monday after the Walt Disney World Marathon!

Somehow I convinced her to go with me – and so we’re taking a Mom/Daughter vacation to celebrate my races as well as the anniversary of her 35th birthday. I won’t say what anniversary it is… but it’s up there.

The first time we took this cruise we brought the whole family, along with my kids. Those kids were two under two at the time, so I pretty much saw our room, the kids’ pool area, and the Small World Nursery. I am THRILLED to go back and have time to explore the Disney Dream!

Right now, we have Palo reserved for our first night, a Swedish Massage on Tuesday, and Remy reserved to celebrate Mom’s birthday! I know my mom is really excited, mostly because our Remy dinner on her birthday is Pirate Night – and she’s thrilled that I’m not going to be making her dress up like a Pirate.

Right, Mom?

Disney News

The beloved Minnie Van service is now expanded to include several “off property” resorts! Check out my Minnie Van Overview if you’d like to see if your favorite “off property” resort made the cut.

I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS – so, I haven’t actually *done* it yet… YET… but the VOID has premiered Avengers: Damage Control, an all-new virtual reality adventure from Marvel Studios and ILMxLAB. I am dying to do this… hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze in the experience during my next race weekend!

We have a few new announcements regarding ride closures, so plan accordingly! Splash Mountain will be closed January 6th through February 27th, and Test Track will be closed January 13th through February 26th. They’re just undergoing some refreshments… no major changes planned.

I know a lot of runners are planning on getting to the parks this Halloween for Wine & Dine… but not everyone is planning on attending the Halloween Party that night. One option for you? Typhoon Lagoon!! They’re going to be hosting some special activities for Halloween you should definitely check out.

And finally, for the Star Wars fans out there, the final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premiered this week! You can check out the trailer for yourself here, or head over to the Hollywood Reporter to break it down second by second to see what you may have missed!  Y’all, you know I am #StarWarsStupid but this even gave ME goosebumps. I’m excited!!

Not a ton of new and exciting stuff this week in regards to runDisney – we’re mostly just gearing up for the 2019 Wine & Dine Half Marathon… NEXT WEEK!!

Speaking of Wine & Dine, just a reminder that those After Party tickets have started to ship. They’ll be sent to the address you have on file with runDisney, and will be in a plain white envelope.  Also, be sure to keep an eye on your email for your gift card!!

Moving on to Walt Disney World Marathon week… inventory is coming and going and coming and going… I am not sure what is going on over there… but I have a feeling we’re getting close to most everything selling out and staying that way.

Room inventory for Disney Princess Half Marathon is starting to get SLIM – so if you’ve been waiting – it’s time to get that room locked in.

Last thing – one quick plug for 2020 Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend.  We don’t have any official information from runDisney, however, if they set us up this year like they did last year, I’ll be able to confirm your room/ticket/race registration package the day the expo opens this year!  Please fill out that form so we can get you on the list and get you locked in at the best price possible.

As always, be sure to check out runDisney Central on the blog for the most up-to-date race information and links to get your quotes.

If all this talk about Disney Cruises has piqued your interest a bit, the Disney Parks Moms Panel went into a little more detail about the Cruise Line this week. There’s a great video featuring Disney Parks Mom Panelist Angie where she shares how one DCL voyage equals three vacation experiences. It’s worth a watch!!

On The Blog

There’s really not much going on this week on our blogs, but figured I’d throw some links down here anyways!

Opening on October 29, 2019, LAX-it will be the convenient new way to connect to your Taxi, Lyft, Opoli, or Uber ride when leaving LAX. This information is super important for all of our Disneyland guests!

We are nearing the end of the Countdown to runDisney and it has been an absolute BLAST.  The most fun is on Instagram – but I’m also keeping the blog updated every day.  Today?  Snacks.

My coach sent out an email earlier this week that I just loved and wanted to share with you guys – 7 Tips to Avoid Eating ALL The Halloween Candy… I’m linking to this post while I literally have a mini box of Nerds and a mini bag of Swedish Fish on my desk riiiight now… eek!!

Nerd Alert: I’m a little obsessed with the Titanic. I have heard for years that they’re going to rebuild the ship – but it’s never been an actual thing. Until now. A replica of the ship – Titanic II – is set to make its first voyage in 2022. Guys. It’s happening.

There are several things that you just know you can’t take through airport security – Certain liquids, sharp objects, aerosols… Oh, and live animals. Guys, this couple was stopped by airport security after accidentally packing their pet cat. I can’t make this stuff up!

I’ve been going a little app-crazy these days downloading all sorts of travel-friendly apps to my phone. Here are 5 Travel Apps you should consider downloading for your next trip!

Don’t Forget!!

We are having a ridiculous amount of fun over on Instagram with our Countdown to RunDisney photo challenge.  I’ve found so many new runners to follow and have had the best time going back and reliving all the great memories!!
