The Ampersand – November 2019

We have some new faces around here this week so I wanted to say WELCOME!

I am still so tired from everything that happened last weekend, I don’t even know what to do with myself. Wine & Dine was amazing… the weather was great, the races were fun, and I got to see so many of my wonderful friends! Special thanks to everyone that stopped me at the Expo to say hi – easily my favorite part of the whole weekend!

Now – the countdown begins for all of you Marathon runners!! The holidays are going to come and go just as fast as they always do… and then, it’s time to head out for the 2020 Walt Disney World Marathon! It’s going to be here before we know it.

This time next week I will be BACK at Walt Disney World… shocker.

I’ve been invited to participate in an Agent Education Program geared toward smaller agency owners… it’s going to be great. I’m so excited to experience Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, the NBA Experience, exploring a ton of different resorts, and a private party in the Spaceship Earth Lounge followed by a dessert party enjoying Epcot Forever!

Plus, I just realized that I’ll be in Epcot at the same time as Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick.  This N’Sync Fangirl is about to lose her MIND.  I hope I’m able to make it over for one of his Eat to the Beat performances!

It’s going to be an awesome experience with things I haven’t gotten to do in the past, so I am really looking forward to it!

Let’s not forget about “Heigh Ho Travel Co” … our new Instagram Account and Facebook Page dedicated 100% to runDisney!! Park and Preston Travel is so much more than just runDisney… Meghan and I wanted a place where we could all geek out on the thing we love most, so the Heigh Ho Travel Co was born.

Please “like”, “follow”, and play along!

Disney News

Mickey Mouse has been moving around all over the place over at Epcot – and soon, he’ll be making his appearance in a new location at the Imagination! Pavillion, as part of the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival. This is expected to happen in 2020, but for now, you can still find him in the “new” Character Spot in what is left of Innoventions in Future World.

We also found out this week that The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays will return to the park November 29-December 30. This includes “The Candlelight Processional,” Holiday Kitchens, Holiday Cookie Stroll, and Chip & Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree! I really want to try to get my family out at least for the day this December! (Plus, Annual Passholders are able to pick up a magnet SET featuring Chip & Dale!)

There are now more Disney After Hours event dates to choose from in 2020 at both Magic Kingdom® Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park… to be completely honest, I have never done one of these events and I have heard mixed reviews from my clients. I would love to know your thoughts on this event if you’ve been! If you haven’t and want to go – shoot me an email!

Usually, Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend has been held during the last weekend of the Food & Wine Festival, but this year things are different!  The festival runs through November 23rd this year – and there is still time to take in a LOT of really great experiences!

I know everyone is pretty much in the Christmas Spirit now that Halloween is over (no? just me?) … over in California, We’re just a few days away from the start of Mickey’s Happy Holidays at the Disneyland® Resort.  On the East Coast… we have a cool preview of Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks to check out, too!

The 2019-2020 season has officially kicked off, so let’s just break it down race by race to make sure we’re all on the same page for these races!

Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, Jan 8-12, 2020
– Most of our race registrations have sold out (we do have 10K if you’re interested!) However, Meghan has been working with some charities behind the scenes to help them with their unused race registrations.  If you’d like to know what she has available to see about planning a last-minute trip, reach out to her!

Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, Feb 20-23, 2020
– Availability for race registration as well as hotels is starting to get slim, folks!  If you have been waiting to pull the trigger… I wouldn’t wait too much longer.  We didn’t get to see the medals in person at the Wine & Dine Expo (womp womp…) but the folks over at the NYC Marathon Expo sure did!  They’re BEAUTIFUL.

Star Wars Rival Run Weekend, April 16-19, 2020
– We still have all race registrations available!  My fingers are crossed that we are going to get to run through Galaxy’s Edge!

Disneyland Paris Princess Run Weekend, May 7-10, 2020
– We now have several different options to book these packages with race registration.  Our third wave pricing for contracted hotel rates is available, and the rates are pretty decent!  Head on over to the race page to fill out your quote request if you’re interested!

Disneyland Paris 5th Anniversary Run Weekend, Sept 24-27, 2020
– The big news here, the MARVEL HOTEL is open for booking!  I’m cracking myself up because I originally thought when they said “open in November” they meant the hotel would be open next November… but I was so wrong.  They meant BOOKING would be available THIS November!  So … if you want to stay there … we can make it happen!!!

I also have packages for the Barcelona Marathon, Jerusalem Marathon, Paris Marathon… the list goes on and on. I’m so excited to be able to offer these packages to you guys, so please just let me know if you want to know more about the new race experience packages we can offer you!

If this is something you’re interested in learning more about, you know what to do!

On The Blog

We were so excited to see a LOT of familiar faces on the runDisney Blog’s official recap of the 2019 Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend!  One of these day’s I’ll get my act together and create a great costume to make it on the official race recap!

Thinking about traveling somewhere different?  Explore Iowa!!  My husband’s family is there and so we visit often, and believe it or not there is a ton to do and see!

I had the distinct pleasure of working with a really fun group of girls – The Geekly Show – for their first-ever Geekly Retreat!  This is a group of entertainment bloggers that are heading to the historic Safari Inn to experience some really cool things in the entertainment world!  Be sure to follow the hashtag #TheGeeklyRetreat to see what they’re all up to this weekend!

One last little plug for Running Universal!

We do have specific race registration packages available but have also had a lot of fun putting custom packages together for the perfect Universal Race Weekend…
