I can’t even begin to explain how amazing D23 was… and I’m already counting down the days until 2021! When you turn your passion into your career, sometimes it’s easy to forget that I am truly a Disney FAN… and it was nice to let that fangirl out to play!
If you want to listen to a little D23 Entertainment news, head over to Patty’s No Guilt Fangirl Podcast where I sat down with her and we talked all things movies!!
I’m actually going to be putting together a group for 2021. Details are obviously to-be-announced but if you followed along and have decided that 2021 is your year, reply to this email. I’ll put you on my list and as soon as I know anything at all I will reach out!
I really do have a cool life – so I get home from D23 Monday aaaaaand today I’m driving out to Orlando for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Yes. I know I’m crazy.
To be completely honest though, this trip is for the food. Since I was able to experience the land during AP previews, I’m probably going to stay back unless they do officially announce they’ll be using the same “boarding pass” system they used in California (it’s rumors only at this point). I will not, however, stay away from food and wine festival.
Speaking of food, I’m planning on grabbing a quick lunch at Disney Springs when I get there today. Head over to Instagram and check out my stories if you have a good quick service restaurant recommendation! I don’t spend enough time eating over there, so I would love to hear your favorite!
If I didn’t have enough reasons to visit Walt Disney World this year, now I am going to be trying to squeeze in TWO additional visits. I’m a sucker for the lineup at the 2019 Eat to the Beat Concert Series. Blue October is my favorite, but I’m going to miss them this year. I am planning to see Boyce Avenue with my little brother, and now I have to schedule two more trips to catch Joey Fatone (featuring Chris Kirkpatrick and Ryan Cabrera!!!!!!!) and Smash Mouth!! Guys. 98° and BBMak are going to have shows as well and my 90s Boy Band obsessed self is freaking out.
There were some new dates announced recently for Disney After Hour Events at Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom… check out the schedule to see if your trip this fall lines up with any of the new dates… will I see you there?
In more Disney news… really… this week was all about D23 and that deserves a section of its own… so I have my Favorite 10 announcements a little further down…
It is no secret that the runDisney community is highly opinionated, and runDisney gave us the opportunity to have that opinion heard! You could vote on Twitter for your favorite theme for the 2020 Summer runDisney Virtual Series! Did you vote? Which one is your favorite?
I had a chance to see the Paris medals and the Wine & Dine medals in person last weekend at the D23 Expo! I was a little bummed out that they didn’t have the Marathon medals on display… womp womp… but we’ll get to see those soon enough! Head over to my Instagram Story Highlights to see a quick video of the medals!
Since it’s all about Star Wars these days, let’s keep up the trend and talk about the 2020 Star Wars Rival Run Themes! I must say I love the “rival” theme overall but the matchups on the themes (and I assume medals… still waiting on those…) is awesome. My favorite? Darth Vader & Yoda. Boom.
There was so much announced at D23 – I couldn’t possibly cover it in one email. So, I’ve taken my TOP TEN announcements (as it relates to the Parks and Travel) and summed them up right here for ya!
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser (a.k.a. the “Star Wars Hotel”) was officially announced and named The Halcyon. This is going to be unlike anything Disney has done before. The easiest way for me to describe it is like it is a cruise… a two-night itinerary that is completely immersive and all-inclusive. Once on-board, you will interact with characters and become active participants in stories that unfold around you on your galactic journey. Definitely more information to come on this one!
A breathtaking new Cirque du Soleil show celebrating life, love and Disney animation is coming to Disney Springs in Spring 2020… and you can get your tickets right now!! It was really incredible hearing them talk about the story and the music… this one you won’t want to miss.
One of my favorite announcements is from Epcot… they’re installing an attraction (a walkthrough, not a ride) based on Moana! Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana” will be an area where you can interact with magical, living water. At first, I was afraid it was going to be in place of the Seas pavilion, but I was mistaken. This is an all-new experience!
Speaking of Epcot – this park is about to go under a ridiculous amount of renovations. The entire park is being reimagined, unified with four neighborhoods that each speak to important aspects of the world and its people: World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature and World Discovery.
The most exciting (to me) of these changes, was the announcement of the first attraction inspired by Mary Poppins!! Guys – Dick Van Dyke came out on stage to help with this announcement and I LOST MY MIND. Soon, you will step in time down Cherry Tree Lane past Admiral Boom’s house, then enter Number 17, home of the Banks family, where the adventure will begin in this all-new attraction!!
At Disney California Adventure and Disneyland Paris, the new Super Hero themed lands now have a name: Avengers Campus. The story is that after Thanos attacked, the Avengers realized the world needs more super heroes… so they opened these campuses to recruit regular people!
Another big announcement in MY world was the Adventures by Disney themed Rhine River Cruise!! You can grab your Mickey ears and get ready to take in the stunning sights along the Rhine River as you discover six destinations in four countries on an all-inclusive cruise, all while meeting and mingling with Disney ICONS. This is the perfect trip for the mega-fan.
The 5th ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet has officially been named… Disney Wish. She has Rapunzel on her stern, chosen for her sense of adventure! This is also a tie into Disney’s commitment to the Make a Wish foundation… that part of the panel had us all in tears!!
To continue on the Disney Cruise Line news, we got a glimpse into the second DCL port in the Bahamas, presented by Joe Rhode himself. Now, we can look forward to a signature island experience that celebrates the spirit and culture located on the breathtaking island of Eleuthera at a place called Lighthouse Point. Joe confirmed that Disney will be directly working on conservation efforts to preserve and protect the environment, and they are working with local artists to create a destination that is rooted in their culture with a touch of Disney Magic. This place is going to be amazing!!
Last but not least… Disney Genie. This one is a big one for us travel agents, and there are still SO many details to be announced here. We have been told that we will be able to use this service as an easy way to customize and tailor your Walt Disney World vacation to meet your needs. More information to come on that one!
I told myself I was going to stick to ten updates, so I’m going to keep my promise… but there is SO much more. Next week I’ll try to break down the updates just for Epcot… so you can see what we have coming up!
See ya next week!
