Welcome to the first edition of The Ampersand, named after my favorite part of our logo – symbolizing all the “and’s” when it comes to Disney, runDisney, and family travel!

This will be a weekly newsletter delivered straight to your inbox… with the occasional bonus email blast when something really exciting happens.  My main goal is to bring you valuable content on a regular basis, and to keep our lines of communication open so you know I am always just a “reply” away if you need anything!

I am looking forward to letting you know what we are up to behind the scenes at Park and Preston Travel, making sure you’re aware of the most up-to-date Disney and runDisney news, sharing tips and tricks when it comes to family travel, and of course, sliding in special promotions and travel deals I think might interest you.

So, with that, let’s get right to it!

Disney News

Probably the most exciting development this week is over at Walt Disney World, as reservations are now available for Oga’s CantinaSavi’s Workshop, and Droid Depot at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!  Reservations begin on August 29th (the date the land is scheduled to open) and are available 180 days in advance.

Speaking of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge… I’ll be attending the Annual Passholder Preview on Sunday, August 18th!!  Be sure you are following me on Instagram – I can’t wait to show you all.  Warning: I’m a Star Wars newbie so I have a LOT to learn…

It’s also exciting to report that 2020 Packages for Disneyland Resort are now available.  With lower than expected attendance this summer, now is the perfect time to visit.

If you’re looking for something new and exciting for your family this Christmas, I can’t recommend the Ultimate Disney Christmas Package highly enough.  It is a dream itinerary full of Disney Christmas magic.

The D23 Conference is just around the corner, and I will be in attendance for the FIRST TIME!  I am really hoping to get a seat during the coveted Hall D23 presentation with Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.  There’s a rumor of a “big announcement” on August 22nd, with more info to be released during this panel on August 25th!

Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend is JUST around the corner!  You’re in for a fun-filled, action-packed race weekend running through the Disney Theme Parks.  Patty does a great job of keeping all of the important weekend information in one place, so be sure to keep checking her blog as more information is released leading up to the race weekend!

It looks like they have started breaking up some of those unsold Dopey Challenge registrations – the 5K is available again for Walt Disney World Marathon Week!  They have already sold out again to the general public, but we still have some left!  Click HERE to request a package quote from us!  I have no idea how long these registrations will last… so I wouldn’t wait!

Speaking of the marathon… training plans for the 2020 Walt Disney World Marathon week have officially kicked off, how is your training going?  Don’t forget you can find links to all sorts of Galloway-Approved Training Plans directly on!

Are you planning on running the Disneyland Paris Half Marathon?  If you are running with us, please remember you only have until August 30th to complete your registration!  I just finished our registrations, and the countdown is ON!

Travel Deals

If you book your trip now through December 17th, 2019… you could get up to $300 in resort credit at Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas!  We have offers that include reduced room rates, resort credit, access to Aquaventure Waterpark and Marine Habitats… this offer expires on September 30th.

Are you a total Olympics nerd like I am?  Well, we’re officially one year away from the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo!  I’ve partnered with a very cool company helping to put together full-service travel packages to the Summer Games for any taste and budget.

Have you visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter yet?  I know it’s hard to cheat on the Mouse, but trust me, you won’t be disappointed.  Especially for those of us still waiting for our Hogwarts acceptance letters… (Hufflepuff for life!!)

On The Blog…

We’re going to kick this off with the WORST possible news runDisney could release… no more Rudy Novotny.  I am heartbroken over this decision. Not only is he a great announcer, but he is a great human, and he will be missed immensely.

Scoring runDisney Merchandise outside the parks and expo… sometimes we run through an expo and decide to forgo a specific item. And then a few weeks or months later, it starts. You have runDisney regrets…

And finally, while mentally preparing for the 26.2 (er, 48.6?) mile journey that is ahead of us…  let’s talk about how NOT to run the Walt Disney World Marathon!  We’ve got a list for you…

… in Other News

We had some pretty EPIC news come from Universal Studios Orlando Resort a bit ago… a new theme park is in the works!  Universal’s Epic Universe is on its way and it’s going to be outstanding!!

Could you do me a favor?  I’d love your review!  If you’ve traveled with Park and Preston before – I’d be honored for your recommendation on our Facebook page.

As my husband and I prepare four our whirlwind trip to Disneyland Paris, I am getting a little overwhelmed with the details… like… who do I tip?  I wanted to share this site with you: Tipping Etiquette Worldwide in hopes that it might come in handy for you, as well!
